This class was centred around working together as a team to build a paper flipbook titled ‘Metamorphosis’ with a theme similar to that of The Very Hungry Caterpillar (Carle, 1969).
To start Robert showed us clips from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Leone, 1968), followed by a clip of the Danish national orchestra, performing the theme song from the movie on YouTube (DR Koncethuset, 2018).
We were then put into groups. My group was a group of three with Rana and Lucy. Robert then gave us a questionnaire to fill in to determine what we thought our role was and then we asked our group if they agreed.

Following the questionnaire, I determined that I was most like the conductor, but I can sometimes take it too far and be overbearing with my ideas. Following discussion with the rest of the group, they agreed that I was most like the conductor and exhibit leadership qualities. To improve in the future, I would like to be more open to other people’s ideas and encourage people who are more introverted than myself to input their ideas, rather than go along with my ideas.
As I was the only person of those present to choose conductor, Robert assigned me to be leader for the next task, based on the book the very hungry caterpillar (Carle, 1969).
For this task we had to create a flip book entitled ‘Metamorphosis’ which showed a ‘very hungry caterpillar’ entering stage left, eating something, and then exiting stage right. As the leader, I was given the role of designing the title sequence at the beginning. The following is our planning in session for what each person wanted their caterpillar to eat:

For my portion of the flipbook, I decided I’d like the word ‘Metamorphosis’ to fade in, have each letter show a different colour and have a caterpillar go around the word. We all worked as a team to bring our individual flip books to life.

Before I started I created 12 key frames (Every 4 sheets) for my flipbook. I then created all the frames in between and added colour. The following is my section of the flipbook.
Following filming my flip book, I noticed it was quite difficult to see what was supposed to be happening so I edited images together to show how the flipbook should have looked.
Looking back on this task, if I were to do it again I would not take apart my sticky notes to draw the flipbook, as it made it much more difficult to stick back together and then flip (evidenced in my video, when the pages stuck together).
