Website Animation and ADHD Simulator

For the animation, it was decided in a previous post that a combination of real life and animation be used, to allow for a connection between the advertising through social media and the benefits of using animation to educate.

For the first animation on the website explaining the symptoms of ADHD, it was decided that a script would be written and the Adobe Character Animator program be used to film the ADHD brain character talking.

From the script and Character Animator, the following video was created.

Video 1. Raw footage of the ADHD brain character reading the script prior to editing.

This footage was exported from Character Animator with a transparent background and was sent to Premiere Pro for editing.

The video was edited to give a base for the character to stand on and real life footage was added and licensed from Adobe Stock or Pixabay relevant to what symptoms were being listed at the time. To make the footage transition more seamlessly, a dip to white effect was used throughout the video.

Video 2. Final edited video showing the symptoms of ADHD.

Another aspect of the website (the non-ADHD section) is the ADHD simulator. Having already given insight into what ADHD can feel like in the introduction, a tab was created to give the audience unrestricted access to the ADHD experience. The first simulator will give an insight into planning for the next day ahead.

Video 3. Edited audio ADHD simulator for the website.

Although the simulator only uses audio, this could be expanded to include 360 videos created in Maya for visual simulation. Something similar was created with Autism as the subject by Autismity.

Video 4. Autism Simulator created by Autismity (Autismity, 2020).

By creating something more in depth, it will allow the audience a greater understanding into ADHD.
